I would describe the "Omen of Darkness" as apocalyptic, rough, sharp and evil but with a decent melodic undertone and some atmosphere as well. The opener "Bloodveien" is a representative example for the album and maybe the catchiest song. The rest takes some more time to stay in mind, except the closing "He who must not be named".
Favorite track: Blodveien.

What a blessing. metal to set your soul on fire before the King of Kings. The irony is not lost on me that this release is, in reality, the blistering fridgid condition most fear. Yet my soul is still on fire. A masterpiece.

In 2019 "Darkness Devour", their first album, revealed the potential of Flukt, a Norwegian act devoted to aggressive black metal. Four years later, they're ready to unleash their second effort, "Omen Ov Darkness".
Flukt are capable, through the eight tracks of "Omen Ov Darkness", to create a solid blend of two of the major schools of black metal sound from Scandinavia. There's the violence and the rawness of Mayhem and Gorgoroth, but also an evident attention to dark melodies of acts such as Setherial and the never forgotten Dissection.
"Omen Ov Darkness" was Mixed and mastered by Audun Grønnestad at Mayhem Music studio (www.mayhem-music.com) and the dark cover artwork was done by Moonring art design.
The lyrics are dark, rooted in pessimism, introspection and self-destruction, but they also deal with cultural and historical themes such as Second World War, religious myths and occultism. The first two singles, out at the end of August and September, clearly demonstrate that, though they can be considered loyal bearers of the tradition, Flukt deliver a refreshing personal take of the Scandinavian sound!

Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10 RJ

What an impressive piece of black metal. This one-man hurricane is pure art. Sgah‘gahsowáh creates an haunting atmosphere. He puts so much soul in his music. Sælzer Bub

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74

#5 2023: Black metal needs some grandness and dark beauty around the basic aggression and evilness to become a soulful experience. "Länge Leve Döden" is such a magic album of outstanding atmosphere. Rooted maybe in the 90s but sounding fresh and inspired the five epic tracks spread the black magic only this style is able to offer. A pleasure and early highlight in 2023 and all over the year for all atmospheric black metal addicts! Check "Parallellt dubbelliv". H.L.
